French is an official language in 29 countries of the world and is spoken in five continents. It is the language of international relations and diplomacy, and is the official language of many international organizations. Having a strong understanding of French will open up many career opportunities for students.

The B.A French Literature program covers French and Francophone literature, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, linguistics, translation, history, culture, and civilization of France. In today’s increasingly multicultural world, foreign languages are essential tools for global citizenship. Every course in the program is designed to help students develop skills for effective intercultural communication, which will improve their educational opportunities and career prospects in a globalized and interconnected world.

The B.A. French curriculum focuses on teaching the four major language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The courses are designed to help students use language creatively and spontaneously. They also include skill-based modules like linguistics, translation, interpretation, tourism, and information technology.

In addition to language skills, students also learn about the history, culture, and literature of France. They analyze major social, political, and cultural events from the medieval to contemporary period. They also study contemporary France and its relations with the French speaking world.

The curriculum is designed to engage students in a meaningful way. It includes practicals, teaching-learning strategies, and assessment methods that help students learn at all levels of cognition. This will prepare them for internships, employment, and higher education opportunities in India and abroad.
